Bijî Newroz,bijî yekîtiya gelê Kurd!
On 21st March, we are celebrating the beginning of the new year once again.
In remembrance of the defeat of tyranny, the fires of Newroz are lit all over Kurdistan and the Kurdish diaspora. This year, Newroz has an even greater significance: It was the kurdish people´s resistance all over the world, the coming together of all parts of Kurdistan and the diaspora, which forced the Syrian Transitional Government and western powers to recognise the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and its representatives as a partner in dialogue. It was resistance and pressure which stopped even greater bloodshed after the attacks on Aleppo and the offensives on Deir Hafir, Raqqa and Tabqa. The resistance that has been built up must be continued – to further defend the gains of the Women’s Revolution, to end the siege on Kobanê but also to free all prisoners like the disappeared journalists Eva Maria Michelmann and Ahmet Polad, and to guarantee the return of all displaced peoples, such as to Êfrîn. It is the pressure on complicit governments like that of Germany which can help in these causes.
Let us come together and celebrate not only the beginning of a new year, but also the coming together of the Kurdish people in defending their homeland and securing the gains of the Women’s Revolution in Rojava.
Join us in this cause and find us at the European central Newroz celebration where we will have a stall with informational materials.
