The Revolutionary Communist Movement (TKŞ) has published a New Year message sharing its assessments of 2025. In the statement, it said: “2026 will be a year full of struggle for all our peoples. We call on workers, labourers, and women from all nations to organise in the ranks of the revolution and intensify the resistance.”
The Devrimci Komünist Hareket (TKŞ) released a written New Year message evaluating the year 2025. The statement noted: “The year 2025 we leave behind was marked by war, destruction, and great struggles for the peoples of Rojava/North and East Syria as well as all oppressed nations and faith communities in Syria. The policies of imperialist powers and colonial regional states that dragged Syria into chaos continued throughout the year. Following the overthrow of the Ba’ath regime, a new state-building process began in Syria. The HTS gang led by al-Julani settled in Damascus with the support of imperialist states. Al-Julani was declared president without elections. They imposed their own constitution on the peoples. Our Alevi, Druze, and Christian peoples were sought to be subdued through massacres.”
Drawing attention to the attacks and massacres in Tartus, Homs, Latakia, and Suwayda throughout the year, the statement added: “As seen recently in the Christmas celebrations in Damascus, the political Islamist HTS gangs do not even want to accept the existence of our Christian peoples. The HTS gang, which stubbornly refuses to recognise the Autonomous Administration, is striving to establish a new dictatorship in Damascus.”
“Our peoples maintained organised resistance against occupation throughout the year”
The statement continued as follows: “Our peoples, who are building an equal and free life in North and East Syria, faced a new war of existence at the beginning of the past year. Under siege and liquidation attacks, our peoples living in hardship maintained their organised resistance against the threat of occupation to the revolutionary lands throughout the year. Right at the start of 2025, the Turkish state and its gangs launched a major attack to destroy our Autonomous Administration and occupy the region. Enemy forces that occupied Shehba and Manbij were seen preparing for a more comprehensive attack that would destroy the Rojava revolution. And the occupiers were halted with a life-or-death resistance on the Tishrin and Qarakozak lines. In this war, our peoples paid a heavy price. Our people rallied around the revolutionary army defending our lands. The weeks-long vigil at the Tishrin Dam and the defence of the front lines were won with a resistance written in blood into history through the determination and will of our people. It was once again proven that no force can defeat an organised people. The occupation forces, unable to cross the Tishrin line, were forced to withdraw and agree to a ceasefire.”
The statement emphasised that the Turkish state aims to destroy the Rojava revolution, adding: “2026 will be a decisive year for the future of the Rojava revolution and the peoples of Syria. It is evident that the pressure, intimidation, and liquidation attacks by imperialist powers, the Turkish state, and the HTS gang will continue. Our peoples can only win by struggling for an order where they themselves decide their own future.”
“A just, free, and democratic life is possible for the peoples of Syria”
The statement concluded as follows: “A just, free, and democratic life is possible for all peoples living in Syria. For this, it is important above all for our Arab people to take a stance against the lies and dirty policies of HTS that ignore other nations, slander them, and try to spread Arab nationalism. As communists from Rojava, we stand for a solution based on full equality of rights for workers, labourers, and women from all nations and faiths living in Syria. If our peoples living in different cities of Syria organise and take up self-defence, they can gain the right to have a say in their own future and secure their right to life. For this, they need to join hands with the peoples living in the Autonomous Administration regions. The Rojava revolution is vitally important for the liberation and future of all of us. We will defend the revolutionary lands and all our gains, and struggle for the revolution’s advance towards socialism. 2026 will be a year full of struggle for all our peoples. We call on workers, labourers, and women from all nations to organise in the ranks of the revolution and grow the resistance.”
