Today, the HTS government in Syria declared Aleppo a restricted zone and shortly thereafter launched renewed attacks on the Kurdish neighborhoods of Şêxmeqsûd, Eşrefiyê, and Benî Zêd. Government forces, using tanks and aerial bombardment, have so far killed 7 civilians and injured more than 50 others.
The Asayish, responsible for internal security in the Kurdish neighborhoods, reported multiple infiltration attempts by armed units that are clearly subordinate to the HTS leadership.
Having been in power for one year, the Syrian Al-Qaeda affiliate HTS has established an anti-democratic, anti-people, and anti-women system and, together with its partner, the Turkish state, is attempting to destroy the achievements of the Rojava Revolution.
Alawites, Druze, and Kurds have repeatedly been targeted by HTS’s reactionary program.
This attack on Aleppo is part of the current global piracy of the imperialist powers.
We call on all progressive, revolutionary, internationalist, women-liberation, and democratic forces to raise their voices in solidarity with the peoples of Syria and the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
In the Middle East and West Asia, trapped in reactionary wars, massacres, and brutal conflicts driven by economic interests, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria stands as a democratic, women-liberating, and people-centered model under existential threat.
Let us organize demonstrations and rallies to expose the anti-democratic character of the HTS leadership and its supporters.
Our deepest condolences go to the families of the fallen and to all those injured.
Long live the Rojava Revolution!
Status for Rojava – democracy for Syria!
