The fascist Turkish régime continuous the war against Rojava and the Autonomous Administration of Eastern Syria with drone strikes against the civil society. On the 22nd of June another drone of the fascist Turkish régime killed three persons in Rojava/AANES, in the canton of Qamişlo. It was a clear attack on the political establishment of Rojava/AANES, as the fascists targeted and killed the AANES representative Yusra Darwish and her deputy Lîman Şiwêş as well as their driver Firat Tûma. This murder is part of a long chain of drone attacks by the Turkish state that target representatives of the self-government and revolutionaries. The immortality of the MLCP fighters Özgür Namoglu and Zeki Gürbüz cannot be considered separately from the deliberate destruction plan of the Turkish state.

In recent months the fascist Turkish régime has intensified their drone strikes against Rojava/AANES, targeting the civil society structures. This goes hand in hand with the fascist strategy of regional occupation of Kurdistan, as Turkey has implemented vast measures to cut the water availability of Rojava/AANES and used all means to destroy food sources such as fields. It is evident that Turkeys goal is to liquidate the resistance of the peoples of Rojava/AANES and the revolution, by all means necessary. With the help of the US and Russia, the fly zone is open to Turkey to utilize drones against Rojava/AANES. This makes way for Turkey to continue the war on Rojava/AANES and the revolution with all its progressive goals, with a drone war.

What we are witnessing in Rojava is a democratic revolution. We are seeing the construction of a new society that consistently implements radical goals such as women’s liberation, social justice, equal rights for all peoples, genuine political participation and climate justice. This is a novelty, not only for the crisis-ridden region, but worldwide. In the midst of the Syrian civil war, in the midst of the most brutal oppression of Kurds, the Kurdish freedom movement fought its way through one city after another. The revolution is not only a thorn in the side of the fascist Turkish state, but also for all other surrounding states that colonize Kurdistan. Rojava represents the spark that can at any time spread to the surrounding parts of Kurdistan to the entire Middle East region. This drone war is being actively fueled to crush the revolution once and for all.

The structure and force with which the drones are employed against Rojava/AANES shows that those are not random attacks, but strategic attacks as a new form of war. The war against the revolution and Rojava/AANES has been continuing this entire time, however with this new intensity of the drone strikes against the structure of Rojava/AANES’s civil society, it is evident that the war is being waged on a new level with new means. The goal of this war is to eliminate the revolution and its forces and by utilizing drones it tries to eliminate the spirit of the people while driving them away from their land; making them refugees.

In order to make peace and help Rojava/AANES, it is our call to fight for a no fly zone, so that the drone war can be stopped, and the people of Rojava/AANES can live in peace!
